By combining spatial transcriptomics, scRNA-seq (Chromium), and in situ sequencing, the team mapped cell-type-specific gene expression to precise anatomical regions across three developmental stages.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How were 10x Genomics\u2019 products used?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The research team used the <strong>10x Genomics Chromium platform<\/strong> for single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), generating over 3,700 single-cell profiles from embryonic heart tissue. This enabled the identification of diverse cardiac cell types\u2014including multiple cardiomyocyte populations, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, neural crest cells, and Schwann progenitor cells\u2014at a crucial developmental stage. The single-cell data were integrated with spatial transcriptomics and in situ sequencing to create a comprehensive, organ-wide 3D atlas of gene expression and cell distribution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Impact:<\/strong> 10x Genomics Chromium technology was essential for dissecting <u>cellular<\/u> heterogeneity and providing the single-cell resolution needed to build a detailed heart atlas. The integration of these data revealed new cell populations, clarified spatial relationships, and produced a publicly available web resource for the scientific community.
